In the beginning I was incredibly thin. The bigger, more muscular gym-goers often made fun of me, and their scorn cut deep. But instead of letting their words break me, I used them as fuel. I committed to becoming stronger, not just physically, but in every aspect of my life. However, the environment I found myself in presented its own set of challenges. Iraq was involved in a war with the United States and the country was under a strict economic blockade. This made it almost impossible to get fitness supplements legally. The only options available were on the black market, where they were sparse on nutrition and expensive. The owner of the gym where I worked out had access to some of these supplements. He would try to sell them by opening the containers, letting us smell them and demonstrating their supposed quality. But I was too poor to afford even the smallest amount. I could only watch while others accessed what I could not. It was in these moments of headwinds and adversity that I made a promise to myself. I vowed that one day I would create my own supplement company—one that would be accessible, affordable, and above all, of the highest quality. Today, that vision has become a reality.
